This series of photographs is a result of an image-making endeavor taking place in cities all across the US during a three-week period. It is built upon the simple idea of travel and exploration - to leave home with essentially nothing, in terms of images, and return with something significant. It’s a study of light, color, shape, and atmosphere contrasting both rural and urban environments. I created diptychs to show the similarity and distinction between the two visually related yet opposing images - showing the relationship between soft ambient light and strong structural figures. My intention throughout this project was to explore and show bright colors and dark tones along with hard architectural shapes.
